Are you browsing the internet in search of the right parrot names for your new pet parrot?
Or have you already got a bird and you need to find the best name for it?
This article will provide you with a selection of parrot names, organized in alphabetical order. Just pick your favorite!
Choosing the right parrot name for your feathered friend
In my journey of choosing a parrot, I did a lot of research:
- What type of parakeet would suit me and my living situation;
- What bird would be quiet enough as to live with me and my boyfriend in our small apartment;
- What is a good beginner pet parrot, and of course;
- What parrot name will I give to my new bird.
All the above are important questions a bird owner should have.
However, the first three questions are only relevant in the beginning, when choosing your parrot.
The parrot name however, will stick around for the entire bird’s life. Though also chosen in the beginning, some people can choose to change their bird’s name along the way. Some reasons:
- DNA result indicated a different gender than the name suggests;
- Old name is ‘lost’ due to re-homing;
- Another name suits the bird better.
Whichever the reason, the name needs to be fun, catchy and cute, just like the names below!

Hi Tatiana, thank you for such a lovely post!
I love parrot Elvis so much and follow your amazing work.:-)
List of the names is extensive and inspiring. I don’t have a bird for a pet but I have a female rabbit, which by the way still doesn’t have a name. She is six months old and we simply call her – bunny. But this text inspired me that some name from the list would suit her. For example, Blue or Coco. What do you think?
By the way, you gave Elvis a name that totally suits him!
Looking forward for new articles.
Best regards,
Danijela
Hi Danijela and thank you for your lovely message!
I can already imagine your little ball of fluff called Bunny 🙂
You made a very nice point in naming your pets according to their personality and character. So it is important to observe them first and see what we start thinking of them as. For example in case of bunny, do you see her being a Blue or a Coco? 🙂
I know maybe the question sounds a bit strange but somehow it works.
To be honest after deciding which bird to buy as a pet I already started looking for names. So I had not yet met my bird but I have already chosen the name Elvis for him. That is because I have imagined him flying and chirping around and it felt like and Elvis. Oh and by the way, Elvis could be very well a girl. Only the DNA test can tell for sure, which we have not done 😀
Greetings to fluffy bunny, or Blue or Coco,
Tatiana
